Ross
Global Academy Web pages Guidelines

Teacher’s
Web Pages Mission Statement

The
mission of technology at Ross Global Academy is to optimize,
enhance, and expedite creative and critical thinking in a
technology-based global society. Technology is integrated into
cross-discipline curriculum in order to develop the cognitive skills
necessary to communicate in a diverse culture. This is also your communication with your class. To enhance this
teachers should create and maintain web pages for their classes.

Activation
and Guiding Principles

·
Web pages should not drive the curriculum but should be used
as an appropriate tool in the learning process and training will
facilitate this. Web pages extend the classroom by providing
repositories of knowledge applicable to the class. Content can be reviewed/revisited.

·
The technology department at the RGA will provide access and
training of web page development for all staff on a one-to-one and a
‘need to know’ basis. We will offer professional
development times as well as online (in Google Documents and Sites)
sharing/learning. Mostly, learning how to create web pages will come
from teacher’s experimentation with Google Sites.

Creating
web pages in Google Sites.

There
are several templates you can use to create a site for your
class(es). Become familiar with the drop down menu in Sites:

Protocol/Responsibility

  • Each
teacher is responsible for the development and updates of their
pages. The Instructional Technology Department (Lassina and Terrell)
will offer training and support for staff members.

  • Buddy
    System
    - have someone else preview your page before submitting
to be viewed by your students

    • Before
posting your web pages ‘preview your page as a viewer’
and ask your buddy to go over what you wrote. Often someone else
may pick up a spelling or grammar error that we could miss. As
these pages become ‘published’ to the RGA community
it is important that we present a high academic quality.
Students and their family will read your work - as anyone with
an RGA email is part of our community. This will not be saved to
the World Wide Web without permission - see further down.

  • Content

  1. When
posting names of students - first names only. If there are more than
one with the same first name then the first letter of the last name.
    I.E. Lassina O (better than O Lassina)

  2. Post
student work only if it is of an academic quality that would reflect
the grade level of the student. Edit or have the student edit for
grammar and spelling. Students should be proud of sharing their work
because of its quality. Student’s work will not be published
in conjunction with photographs in which the student author of the
    work is included.

  3. No
photos of the student unless approved - see below.

  4. Check
external links so that there are no links beyond the primary link(s)
    that are not appropriate.

  5. Publish/share
your classroom site only with your class(es). For example, 8a share
with 8a and if it the same assignment for 8b, copy 8a content into
    your 8b site.

For
work to be shown on the RGA website it must be approved.

  • Recommendations are made to Alycia, Teimosa or Chrissy
  • Final approval by Julie after their review

a.
Students whose work is published on a school web site will be
identified by first name only (i.e. Finger Painting by Lassina).

b.
Students in published photos will not be identified.

c.
Student’s work will not be published in conjunction with
photographs in which the student author of the work is included.
